Making Holidays More Manageable

November 12, 2018
2:00 PM - 3:00 PM
Studebaker building, 622 W. 132 St., New York, NY 10027 - Conference Room 469

Don’t dread the holiday season.

It makes sense to hope for happy families and good times as Thanksgiving and other holidays approach. But sometimes expectations are not met, leading to disappointment and stress. And it’s not always easy to manage stress.

Join us on Monday, November 12 for Making Holidays More Manageable, our next EAP seminar.

After participating in this seminar, you will be better able to:

  • Understand the causes of holiday stress
  • Set reasonable expectations
  • Use proven coping mechanisms to navigate difficult feelings and situations and manage disappointment and stress.
To RSVP to the seminar, please email Lucia Leon at ll2935@columbia.edu.

Can’t attend in person? Try these tips for coping with holiday stress:

  1. Plan ahead. Set a schedule for visiting and visitors, write out complete menu ingredients lists and recruit help for clean-up to prevent scrambling and shared work.
  2. Keep to your regular exercise and healthy eating habits.
  3. Cry if you want to. Expressing feelings can be a tremendous relief.
