As additional school systems announce closings, employees may be unable to work because of the need to care for their children. Please ensure that employees are familiar with the University’s current guidance which states:
If an employee cannot work, not because of illness, but because an employee must care for family members as a result of a public health emergency, NYC Sick Leave provides 40 hours per fiscal year of paid leave for such situations.
If you are already working remotely but cannot conduct your responsibilities because of child care issues, please inform your manager that you need to utilize the NYC sick leave benefit.
