Length of service is determined by the Benefits Service Date in PAC, which can be found in the TLAM section of PAC or by asking your departmental administrator. The Benefits Service Date is calculated to account for any breaks in service, such as leaving the university for a position at another institution and then returning. Please note that unpaid breaks in service, including some leaves of absence, are not included in length of service calculations.
Any breaks in service (e.g., a job outside the university, unpaid leave of absence) could change your service milestone date. Your Benefits Service Date accounts for those breaks.
You can see your Benefits Service Date in PAC:
- Go to my.columbia.edu and login using your UNI and password.
- Scroll down to select People@Columbia (PAC).
- In the self-service menu, select the “Time” module.
- On the Absence Forecast Tool page, Benefits Service Date is displayed at the top beneath your name.
Contact the Benefits Service Center if you think your Benefits Service Date is incorrect.
At this time, the Twenty-Five Year Club includes all active, full-time employees and part-time employees in a benefits-eligible role and work more than 20 hours a week.
