Finding Meaning: Monthly Lunch Series

Finding meaning in our work can help us feel awakened to our purpose, leading to an enhanced sense of overall well-being and mental health. Throughout many cultures, religions, and generations sharing a meal and conversation has been an integral place for deep connection. Over the fall semester, faculty and staff are invited for monthly in-person sessions where we will gather around the table to explore various religious and spiritual traditions as a lens to find meaning and purpose in the midst of life’s challenges. Join us monthly for lunch, connection, and stories as we will provide a space to listen, share, and find meaning.

This program is open to Faculty and Staff only. Current Columbia Faculty and Staff can register below.

As space is limited, we ask that you register only if you are able to join all four sessions.

Monthly sessions will be held on Tuesdays at 1 p.m. with catered lunch:

  • September 16 - Living with Purpose: Finding Meaning at Work, Home, and in Academic Life
  • October 14 - Resilience and Renewal: Practices from Various Spiritual Perspectives
  • November 11 - The Power of Connection: The role of relationships and community in meaning making
  • December 2 - Continuing the Path: Applying Meaning and Purpose in Everyday Life

As part of the program you will be encouraged to keep a journal and continue to explore the topics of the series by meeting with individuals from your cohort over coffee sponsored by the program.

Instructors: Faculty, Staff, and Spiritual leaders from Columbia Community.

This program is sponsored by the Mental Health Initiative Grant in collaboration with the Office of Religious Life and Office of Work/Life.
