The college application process can be overwhelming, and one of the more stressful aspects can be accessing the financial aid needed to make college affordable. This program reviews how to apply for financial aid and provides a comprehensive, yet accessible, breakdown of the major financial aid applications, the FAFSA and the CSS Profile. The workshop covers:
- What forms of income and assets are reported—and not reported—on aid applications
- Under what circumstances are students considered financially independent of their parents
- Whose information is considered when parents are divorced
- How to report special financial circumstances to the financial aid offices
- Reasons to complete aid applications even if you don’t expect to qualify for need-based aid
This topic is suggested for families with 12th graders and college students.
