Retirement Resources
Retirement planning workshops are offered throughout the year by the Columbia University HR Benefits department. You can view more details and sign up for these workshops through the Events Calendar.
The Benefits Department and the Office of Work/Life hosts Retirement Planning Workshops designed to help Officers make decisions about their retirement planning and personal finances. These workshops are presented by an independent Certified Financial Planner and are either half day or full day sessions.
The workshops are offered to following groups:
- Officers Ages 21-39
- Officers Ages 40+
- Support Staff Employees Ages 21-39
- Support Staff Employees Ages 40+
The topics covered during the workshops are:
- Health Benefits during Retirement & Introduction to Retirement Planning
- Estate Planning, Distribution of Assets and Federal Gift & Estate Tax
- Retirement Income Sources
- Investment Discussions
- Cash and Debt Management
- College Planning
- Insurance and Flexible Spending Accounts
- Estate Planning for Employees early in their career
These workshops are advertised throughout the year so please register to attend one.
Representatives from TIAA and Vanguard visit the University throughout the year to discuss personal financial planning, investment strategies, portfolio reviews and retirement education at no cost to you. These individual counseling sessions are personalized to meet your goals and objectives and your spouse or partner is welcome to attend.
