News

  • Next week, all faculty and staff who cover a spouse on a health plan will receive more information about the upcoming dependent eligibility verification process. Learn more about the eligibility verification process.
  • Every Wednesday during the spring semester, Take a Break with Columbia ergonomist Kevin Myers. First introduced in 2020, Take a Break is more than just a time to stretch and meditate but has evolved into a supportive and lasting community where you can take a moment to reset and renew your body, mind, and heart. The Ergonomics site has the full schedule.
  • Step up with your colleagues this spring with the Columbia vs. NYU University Step Challenge 2025. The challenge runs from April 21 to May 11. Aim for 7,000 steps daily to contribution to Team Columbia’s average total steps count as we aim to surpass Team NYU’s. The Work/Life website has all the details, including how to sign up.

Understanding Nutritional Labels (Employee Assistance Program)
Making healthy choices can be a challenge with so many competing products on the market, all making a variety of health claims. This session will teach participants to read nutrition labels in order to understand a product’s nutritional value, differentiate products, and make healthier choices.

Retirement Planning Workshop for Support Staff Ages 40+
Workshops are designed to help Support Staff employees, ages 40 and over make decisions about their retirement planning and personal finances. The following topics will be covered: Health benefits during retirement and introduction to retirement planning; Retirement income sources and investment choices; Estate taxes, distribution of assets, federal gifts; and Social Security.

CU Thrive: Cancer Support
Cancer is a widespread disease that affects us all—whether through a personal diagnosis or as a loved one supporting someone with cancer. Please join us for the next CU Thrive discussion on Cancer Support, featuring experts from the CUIMC Department of Hematology and Oncology, UnitedHealthcare Cancer Support Program, and Columbia's Employee Assistance Program (EAP).

Expanding Capacity to Enhance Productivity (Learning & Development)
Learn to enhance productivity & expand bandwidth by inspiring creativity to overcome challenges and achieve results. By the end of the workshop, participants will have an understanding of what leads to high performance and great results and develop a way of thinking that inspires and challenges people to find new innovative solutions.
