Orientation & New Hire Info

Orientation

Welcome to Columbia University and the beginning of your successful career. We encourage you to take full advantage of the many resources and services to help you acclimate to Columbia's amazing work and learning environment:

Columbia University New Hire Orientation

New Hire Orientation (NHO) will introduce you to the structure and culture of the University, as well as highlight key departments and resources to support you as faculty and staff. You will learn about your benefits and campus services, as well as have plenty of opportunities to ask questions. NHO is available in two formats. You only need to attend one of them:

  • In-Person session: Continental breakfast will be served beginning at 9 a.m. followed by an overview of the campus and key resources, beginning at 9:30 a.m. You will hear from other offices and departments, such as Benefits, Public Safety, and Work/Life. You will also have an opportunity to network and connect with other new colleagues from across the University. Register for an upcoming in-person session.

  • Virtual session: Zoom sessions are a condensed version of the NHO program, and will provide an overview of the campus and key resources, as well as Benefits breakout sessions. Register for an upcoming virtual session on Zoom.

Who should attend NHO? All Faculty, Officers of Instruction, Officers of Research, Officers of the Libraries and Administrative Officers as well as all Support Staff who will be working on either the Morningside or Manhattanville campus. For the Medical Center, visit CUIMC Employment.

To continue your Columbia onboarding journey, you may access the self-guided NHO learning Modules to hear a brief overview from many of our offices and departments that are here to support you. Please use your UNI to log in.
