Student Officer Payroll

March 14, 2024

Beginning on July 1, 2024, for all Student Officers appointed on July 1, 2024 or afterwards, Student Officer payroll processing and payment will take place after the close of a pay period.

Student Officers will continue to be paid on a semi-monthly basis and the pay periods (1st to 15th and 16th to the end of the month) will not change. However, the payroll processing date for Student Officers will shift so that it is one to two business days after the end of the pay period and the check date will be approximately three business days after that.

Why is the payroll processing timeline changing?

The University is implementing a Student Officer payroll to provide better support to our Student Officers aimed at increasing accuracy and efficiency. The separate payroll will enhance the departments’ ability to include newly appointed Student Officers on payroll at the start of a semester when the majority of Student Officers are onboarded in a short time period. This payroll approach is also consistent with other employee groups, whose payroll is also processed and paid after the pay period ends.

What is happening between now and then?

Between now and late Spring, a group of employees across the University (including CUHR, Finance and CUIT) are configuring the PAC system to create new pay groups, create new batch schedules and revise calendars to include dates specific to this new payroll.

We will provide more updates between now and July 1, including finalized payroll calendars for 2024-25, and more details about summer appointments. Pay schedules will be clearly articulated to all Student Officers as they are appointed on or after July 1, 2024.

Please note this has no impact on Student stipends, which are administered through Student Financial Services’ financial aid process and are not part of payroll processing.
